Today I walked Kimbo and Dreamcicle. Dreamcicle is still a bit shy and doesn’t want to go on long walks. She is a beautiful girl and just needs somebody to love her. She did take a cookie and ate part of it. Again, she doesn’t really stop moving long enough to pause for photos! Haha. I think Dreamcicle was not as scared of people when she shared a run with King. She would probably get along well in a family with older children and other dogs.
Walked a new guy today, Kimbo. I kept wanting to call him Kimbo Slice after the internet street fighter. He was a lover, not a fighter, though. Kimbo was very affectionate and wanted to be close to me. He looked very patriotic with his American flag bandanna.
- Name: KIMBO
- Sex: neutered male
- Breed: Pit Bull Terrier.
- Age: @ 1 year old
- Weight: 46 pounds.
My day has been packed full and it is only 2:45 in the afternoon! Working my way backwards, I watched Rado play accordion for the neighbors; bought a suit, a hard rock cafe bear, and some espresso cups at the NEIGHBORHOOD YARD SALE; ate the most delicious bbq at Wilson’s Bar-B-Q; and walked five dogs at the humane society.
The dogs I walked today, you have already met, but let’s spend some more time with them, shall we?
King and Dreamcicle: Roomates
after a big wet kiss
I was surprised to see that King now has a roommate, Dreamcicle! So first I took King for a walk, and then I came back and took Dreamcicle.
I am King
Next, I fulfilled my promise to Muffin to take her on her own walk, and we went all over the place to make up for walking just in the parking lot with Ricki the other day. When I took Muffin back, I got her roommate Ricki to go for a walk.

Then I decided to walk Buddy. He was sleeping on his cot when I went into the run, and rolled over so I could rub his tummy as he woke up. After that, I was covered in sweat and dog slobber and decided to call it a day.
Buddy's Green Eyes Post-Walk
Keyes was hanging outside, and he looked so handsome in a tuxedo bow tie and shirt collars, and a crystal studded red harness that I just had to take a picture! Somebody give this dapper dude the home he deserves (possibly a mansion)!
All Dressed Up Keyes
My dear friend Crystalee came over this evening, and I took her to the WPA Human Society. We looked at the cats and bunnies and dogs and I walked two more. I am such a sucker for those dogs, I wish I could stay there and walk all of them, but I get kind of warn out after a few. I walked Big Buddy again and my little princess Jasmine. Crys took some pictures on her phone, also.
Buddy through the grass
They were both very playful this evening. Buddy had to smell and explore everything, but when I got down on his level, he started kissing me and put his paws up on my shoulders. Crys said he could easily knock me over, and I said he could really pull me if he wanted to on the walks, also, but he’s a gentle guy. He has the cutest face, and I looked closer and his eyes are a beautiful shade of green!
Jasmine was going crazy over treats, and ready to sit for them. She also wanted to run a little bit and burn off that puppy energy, and play. Jazzi also rolled over on her back so I could rub her belly. So sweet! We stopped in the chill-out room for a cold pnut butter & kibble kong.

The Police Siren Will Never Sound the Same Again
Eric G. Kelly,
Stephen J. Mayhle
Paul J. Sciullo II
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7-8)
Mourning doves harmonize
with police sirens plaintive cries
the dissonance of the dirge
belies the honor of the call
that went out and they came
thousands of police from near and far
police cars extend like a line of pilgrims
and passerbys are happy to be stuck in traffic
hats over hearts, the only incidence of mass patience
in a traffic jam.but then, how could there be road rage
when there has been too much rage
when the only thing left to do is to rage against
the dying of the light,
the spark of hope in the dove song,
the stillness of the salute
peace, the blue brotherhood,
for at least one day, encompasses
the oft forgot brotherhood of man
crowds gather not in anger or protest
not indifference and no matter who you are
no matter if the sound of a police car’s siren
normally fills your heart with dread,
today, it sounds like lamentation
A walk with Nicolas Cage (photo by Karl Polacek)
I love to take long leisurely walks with Nicolas Cage. Nic is such a ladies’ man. I love his big ears and expressive eyes. If only I didnt’t have to pick up his poop. Of course I’m talking about Buff and white Pit-bull terrior mix Nicolas Cage, not the internationally known actor Nicolas Cage. Why would I want to go on walks with him? Anywaaaaays, here are some extra pictures that Karl Polacek took when he was putting together the Humane Society article and gallery.

We’re ready for the Super Bowl! Although I have to work right up until kick off, I prepped my stomach with a black and gold spread– gold butternut squash soup with black calamatta olives! and of course…. the Eat’n’Park Pittsburgh Steelers Smiley Cookies, which will be present today at the White House Super Bowl Party!
Bob Casey (D).
— Casey: invited and accepted. His office says he’s bring “terrible towels” and something called Eat’n Park Cookies’ (a Pittsburgh thing we’re told) — http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/01/29/1772695.aspx?p=1
